Customizing Your Character

So, you want a character on the Star Wars MUSH. Well, first you have to create that character. The process of doing this is known as chargen (short for character generation), although confused newbies have many more colorful names for it. This walkthrough is intended to make the process much less painful.

Before you begin Chargen, you need to decide what kind of character you want to play.

What race will the character be?
What is the character's background?
What type of occupation will the character try to get?

These are all important decisions, and they will greatly affect how you generate your character.

Once you have a basic character idea in mind, it's time to begin.

Race Setting

First, set your race. @chargen/list/races will bring up a list of races supported on the MUSH. For this walkthrough, we will deal only with unrestricted races. Restricted races require an application to RPA.

If you need information about a specific race, type swinfo races. (If you need to see what a race looks like on here, goto the Alien Cabaret.) This will bring up the race section of SWINFO, and will provide you with valuable information on each race. Once you have decided on a race, use the @chargen/race command.
