Once you have used all of your stat and skill points, you are finished with the main portion of Chargen. Type @chargen/display one more time, make sure everything is to your liking, and then type @chargen/finalize. Your attributes are now set.
Language Setting and Finalization
There are still 2 steps left to go before you are fully done with chargen. First, you need to go to the chargen finishing room, off of the main OOC nexus. Here you will find the Language Granter. Typing lang help will bring up the help menu for this machine. To start learning your languages, type init langs. Then you can look at a list of possible languages with list langs. This list reveals two pieces of information about each language. The learning curve is a relative measure of how difficult the language is to learn. The higher the learning curve, the easier it is to learn the language. The alien cultures value shows how high your alien cultures skill needs to be to learn that language. Remember, if you did not enhance your alien cultures skill, its value is equal to that of your knowledge attribute.
You can get a display of what languages
you know, how well you speak and understand them, and how many
language points you have remaining by typing show langs. The
number of language points you start with is determined by your
languages skill. Once you have an idea of what languages your
character should speak, you can begin learning them. Type
learn (language) to take one 'lesson'
in that language.
Example: learn verpine
How much you learn per session depends on the learning curve of that
language. You can always type show langs to see what your
current standing is. Once you have used all of your language points
and are comfortable with what you've learned, you should type
save langs. Your languages will be
saved, and you can view the final outcome on
@lang/display.
The last step, involving setting up combat stats, can not be done until one week after you begin your character. Once this time is passed and you are ready to bestow combat statistics to your character, go back to the chargen finishing room and type set combat stats. That's it.
