Basic Roleplay Roleplay Rules Judging Standards Applications The TinyPlot RP Class Logs Featured Characters |
APPLICATIONSWhile getting a character on the MUSH only requires you register at the login screen, sometimes players may wish to apply for something special after they've already gotten a character created. These things could include (but are not limited to) Feature Characters and Force Users (when there are posted openings), business applications, etc. Applications for these things should be emailed to sw-rp@starwarsmush.com with the following outline. This is just a suggested outline, and players are encouraged to write any type of free-form application that they want to. (NOTE: Please do not email regular character applications to this address, use the login screen of the game to register your character). Remember, the goal of an application is to show us an in depth understanding of what makes a character tick and how well you can write. In evaluating these applications the RPA is looking for people it can trust who will be expected to create a mature and responsible RP environment on the MUSH. As such, errors in spelling or grammar and sloppy writing will reflect poorly on your application. The RPA would rather read a long, well thought out application than a short, skimpy application that fails to answer all our questions. IMPORTANT: Subject Line - Include the character being applied for and your character name. Email Subject: Joe Blow - Han Solo Application. If we do not know who you are, we cannot reply to you. If your application does not identify you, do not expect a response from the RPA. Character History - If applying for a special character or something for a character, you should be sure to outline where the character came from, who they are, and a general sense of what has happened to them in their lives. From this portion of the application, the RPA should come away with a general feeling for the character's background, personality, strengths and weaknesses, and goals. Any existing relationships with players already on the grid should be touched on, as well as the major events that helped to shape their personalities. Business/Item/Etc Description - If applying for a business, special item, character quirk, etc, you describe the requested idea in detail, outlining its IC background (if applicable) and how your character came into possession of it. Any information the RPA would need to know about the idea should be included here. If you are applying for a business, be sure to outline what it does to make money and whether it has any political affiliations. Tinyplot Description - If applying for a TinyPlot, you should be sure to outline the plot itself, as well as possible side effects and endings. The RPA will also want to know who is/will be involved and how long you expect the TP to last. Play Value - If the RPA approves your idea, how will it improve play, not only for you, but on the MUSH as a whole? Do you have ideas for TPs? Do you have ideas for interesting and original RP that gets others involved? Share them with the RPA, even if they are not well fleshed out yet. What do you need? - What do you need from the administration if your application is approved? Will you need extra equipment, money, ships, or quota to accomplish your ideas? Will you need permission to do things that most players are not allowed to do? If you are applying for an NPC business, is there anything outside of the things granted in the NEWS NPC BUSINESS files that you will need? Please note that SW1's code staff is very busy, and will not have time to code special items for you. If you need something coded in order for your idea to work, you must have someone to code it, and the final code must be approved by the Code Wizard Your Background - Whatever you want to put here. You can include how long you have Mushed, where and what roles you have played. Plots you have taken part in, especially ones that you have coordinated or generated for others. Also include your characters name on Star Wars MUSH, but this should also be in the Subj line of the email. Tell us how you approach roleplay, handle IC conflict, create drama etc... Etc - If you find you have more information you want to include, feel free to include it in your application. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the RPA Wizard.
