Policies of Play

This information is found in NEWS ALTPOLICY on the MUSH and is part of the required reading marked with a * in the news files. New players should be familiar with this policy before taking the newbie quiz.

What about Alts? - If a player has held a character for at least three months time on the MUSH, they may request to play a second character (an alt). Requests must go to an administrator, who will create the alt using a special command that marks it as an alternate character. (+help requestalt)

Alts which are not admin approved will be sent to +jail until the matter can be resolved (with the removal of the alt).

Alts are not supposed to interact, which includes never exchanging property between them. Alts are not supposed to be in the same room at the same time. Should you find yourself faced with two alts being put in the same room or in a situation where they may be forced to interact, you should devise a reason to remove one from the situation to prevent a problem from arising. Failure to keep a character and alt separate may result in administrative involvement.

Players caught using alts for cheating purposes will, as stated above, be subject to administrative punishment. This could result in the loss of the alt privilege for an unspecified period of time.

This information is found in NEWS CHARACTER AGES on the MUSH and is part of the required reading marked with a * in the news files. New players should be familiar with this policy before taking the newbie quiz.

I want to play a child. - Because of legal issues involving playing children in adult situations, the MUSH Administration has a policy in effect prohibiting players from choosing to have their characters below the age of legal consent engage in activity that would be improper or unsuitable for children. Children are not miniature versions of adults and should not expect to be allowed to participate in every activity that a grown-up character would be.

In english, that means that you can't have a character below the age of 18 (or whatever is considered the threshhold to adulthood in the species being played) that engages in drug or sexually related activities ICly. If you create a character who is a minor, you consent to follow this policy.

The RPA strictly enforces this rule. Persons found in violation of policy will have their characters removed from the IC area and will be barred from playing a child character ever again in the future. Depending on the nature of the violation, the players may be removed from the game entirely.

This information is found in NEWS SHIP THEFT on the MUSH and is part of the required reading marked with a * in the news files. New players should be familiar with this policy before taking the newbie quiz.

Stealing ships - Ship theft is NOT allowed spontaenously. In order to steal a ship, a player MUST have either the OOC PERMISSION from the OWNER or an APPROVED SHIP THEFT PLOT by the RPA. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

Requests for slicing the codes to a ship fall under the same policy as full ship theft, and must adhere to the same requirements for approval.

Stealing a ship you already have access to (faction ship, business ship, a friend's ship, etc) requires players adhere to this policy as well. Just knowing the code to pilot a ship doesn't mean you can steal it without getting permission OOC or having it be part of an RPA approved plot.

RPA APPROVAL - While the Roleplay Administration can be applied to if a player wishes to steal a ship as part of a plot, the RPA does not approve ships to be stolen simply because a player does not have a ship and wants one without having to buy one. It is very, very rare for the RPA to approve a ship theft plot without the owner's permission to allow the ship to be stolen.
